Alex Wang is a Technical Lead for Data and Evaluation at Cohere. He recently graduated from New York University with a PhD advised by Samuel Bowman and Kyunghyun Cho. His research focuses on developing high-quality evaluation protocols and metrics for NLP systems, such as the GLUE and SuperGLUE benchmarks. His more recent research interests focus on text generation systems, again with an emphasis on creating reliable evaluation metrics. His papers have been published at top NLP and ML venues, such as NeurIPS, ICLR, ACL, and NAACL, and his work is the recipient of Best Paper awards at *SEM and the Student Research Workshops (runner-up). He was previously supported by an NSF GRFP award.
