Mirka currently works as Senior Counsel in Privacy, Cybersecurity, Data and Fraud at Toronto Dominion Bank, where she supports incident response teams and privacy teams in their functions, as well as provides advice and risk assessments for sociotechnical solutions for fraud detection and prevention, as well as identity verification and authentication purposes. In previous roles, Mirka worked at National Bank of Canada supporting Retail Banking, as well as Royal Bank of Canada as part of the Digital & Ventures legal team working with emerging technologies. Mirka is a member of the Quebec and Ontario bars, and has a master's degree in International Banking Law and Finance from University of Edinburgh. Her thesis on "The Transformative Effect of AI on the Banking Industry" was published in the Canadian Banking Law and Finance Review. Finally, Mirka also worked as Senior Associate at the Montreal AI Ethics Institute, where she coached workshops and was a speaker at multiple conferences on the topic of Responsible AI, and she was recently nominated as finalist for the Women in AI Leadership Award in the Responsible AI category.
