Nick Jones is a Data Scientist at the World Bank’s Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR). His work focuses on innovative analytics to inform action on flooding, heatwaves and other natural hazards. His team’s work on climate adaptation in Pacific Islands was featured in the Washington Post and BBC news. Recent focus areas have included AI ethics in disaster risk management and community-based data collection on heatwave risks. Before joining the World Bank in 2010 he was Oxford Analytica’s lead analyst for South and Southeast Asia. He studied at Cambridge University and NYU.
