Little is known about the history of Neural Networks. For instance, "Artificial Intelligence." The history goes back to around 1946 when researchers noticed that the mathematics involved with linear algebra wherein materials were stretched that the neighbouring atoms were affected, was best modelled with a branch of Math known as tensors.
Tensors are used today to create neural networks. Neural networks are run on a powerful Graphics Processing Unit (GPU.) GPUs came about because of video games and entertainment. Thus, we can say that video games laid the groundwork for AI.
