Dominique Shelton Leipzig is a Privacy & Cybersecurity Partner at Mayer Brown. She is an authority on how companies can transform their governance to be responsible data leaders by focusing on legal trends in AI, privacy and cyber.  She leads the firm’s Global Data Innovation Team, the first data team to focus on CEO and Board Level advice for digital transformation. She has been practicing law for over 30 years after obtaining her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, and doing her undergraduate work at Brown University in International Relations and French Civilization. 

Dominique has advised on the global strategies for responsible data leadership for hundreds of companies, with collective market cap of over $3 trillion. She has trained over 50,000 professionals on privacy, AI and cyber including Fortune 100 CEOs and Board Members, and, at the request of the California Supreme Court Chief Justice, trained all California judges on data privacy.  Dominique has testified twice before the California Senate Judiciary as a designated expert on privacy.  She is the author of three books on data leadership, one of which is focused on data leadership for CEOs and Board Members.  Her forthcoming fourth book, entitled Trust. Responsible AI, Innovation, Privacy and Data Leadership , will be published by Forbes.

Dominique has been quoted regularly by prestige publications including the Wall St. Journal and the New York Times.  She has written hundreds of articles including a 2019 Financial Times op-ed that outlined a recommended strategy for how President Biden could resolve the data privacy/transfer issues in the EU with an Executive Order, which the White House subsequently enacted. Dominique hosted an award-winning podcast on data privacy and data leadership. This year, she founded the first inaugural Digital Trust Summit bringing CEOs and Board Members together to discuss digital trust and data leadership in AI, privacy and cyber.    Dominique has won 24 awards and was recently named by the LA Times as a “Legal Visionary.” Dominique became committed to taking the lessons of data leadership to the boardroom and C-Suite because she has seen how easily brand issues can be avoided by mapping to forthcoming legal trends to future-proof decision-making.

Dominique is on the Advisory Board of the AI Governance Center. Dominique also sits on the Board of Directors of the largest organization of privacy professionals called the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), with over 80,000 members across six continents.  She is certified in Privacy by the IAPP, and certified in Corporate Governance by the UCLA Andersen School, UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business, and the NextGen Directors program.  

Dominique is the co-founder and co-CEO of NxtWork, a non-profit dedicated to diversifying the C-suite and the boardroom.
