Sara is currently the Chief Policy Advisor on technology, peace, and security at the Permanent Mission of Denmark to the UN. With fifteen years of experience in international relations, global governance, and policy development, she has been leading Denmark's tech diplomacy at the United Nations in New York since 2020. She represents Denmark in negotiations on AI and emerging technologies, cybersecurity, and cybercrime, while contributing to policy formulation on broader issues of international peace and security in preparation for Denmark's seat on the UN Security Council in 2025-26. Having been one of the lead negotiators for the EU on the first UN General Assembly resolution on AI, Sara is currently closely involved in multilateral negotiations of the Global Digital Compact, which is expected to be adopted by world leaders in September 2024.

Sara previously served as the Applied Research Lead for Data-driven Governance and AI Policy at the Probabilistic Computing Project at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In this role, she spearheaded partnerships with government and data journalism institutions and contributed to applied research at the intersection of technology and governance, focusing on AI applications for sustainable development and hunan rights. Sara has also held various positions with the United Nations and international NGOs, where she led complex strategic planning processes and formulated policies and guidance on conflict prevention and the protection of civilians. Her work has taken her to Afghanistan, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lebanon, Liberia, Mali, South Sudan, and Sudan. She holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University and a Master of Arts in International Relations from New York University.
