Matthias Rumpf
Matthias established Deutsche Bundesbank’s „Service Center for Artificial Intelligence“ (SCAI) in 2021. The SCAI team drives innovation and AI adoption across the institution. After launching the first in-house AI platform for internal and confidential data in 2024, the platform now serves over 5,000 active users—roughly half of the bank’s employees—who frequently use the chat-based AI and personalized assistants.
Prior, Matthias served as Innovation Manager for Data Science at the Bundesbank’s Innovation Lab “InnoWerk” (2020–2021), and was a Financial Data Scientist in the bank’s Statistics department (2018–2019). Matthias holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science (Data Science) from the University of Illinois and earned his PhD in Economics & Personal Finance from Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. In 2008, he began his professional career at Generali Investments in Cologne, Germany, following his qualification as an Investment Fund Specialist.
