Where It All Began

Historic AI Summit New York Logo

While others debated AI's potential, The AI Summit New York 20216 brought together the visionaries who saw its commercial promise. This wasn't just another tech conference, it was the moment AI's future leaders found their community.

Since then, AI has evolved from experimental technology to business imperative. The community the Summit has built has now become a driving force behind today's most transformative AI implementations.

Watch the moments that started it all:

The Summit Story

In 2015, The AI Summit New York opened at 810 Seventh Ave. The estimate at the time was that enterprise spending on AI technology would increase from $200 million to over $500 billion.

Founded in partnership with Amazon Alexa, digitate, IBM Watson and Microsoft, the Summit was a place for enterprise IT businesses leaders interested in the practical applications of AI, rather than the usual academic audiences that existing events gathered.

Notable early participants included Kimberly Powell, now the VP of Healthcare for NVIDIA, but at the time their Senior Director Deep Learning, and Clayton Clouse, a Data expert at FedEx who now leads in FedEx Datawork, the specialist unit set up in 2022 to leverage the massive volumes of data.

Since its inception, the Summit aimed to bridge the gap between cutting-edge technology and real-world business impact and in 2017 The AI Summit Series – encompassing Hong Kong, London and New York – was then purchased by B2B events giant Informa.

What began as a modest gathering then expanded into a massive event. In 2019 the Summit moved to the Javits Center, and briefly transitioned online in 2020 during the pandemic. By then, enterprise spending on AI technology reached $3.79 trillion according to Gartner.

As the technology has matured, so too has the Summit, offering attendees a front-row seat to the latest breakthroughs and trends. In 2022, Unilever’s CTO shared how AI had revolutionized their supply chains, in 2023 it opened three times the number of panel discussions as in previous years, and for 2024 Gov. Kathy Hochul used The AI Summit to outline the city’s AI ambitions.

Now, as we enter our second decade, the Summit remains committed to its mission: turning AI ambition into real-world impact – and nine out of 10 executives expect AI adoption to increase technology budgets again in the coming year!

The AI Summit New York is now more than an event; it’s a movement. A testament to the power of innovation, the importance of collaboration, and the limitless potential of human ingenuity.

A Community That Drives Innovation

For 10 years, industry pioneers have gathered at The AI Summit New York to share breakthrough insights that transform how business gets done. Here's how there experience with AI has changed over a decade:

  • “Over the past decade, my experience supporting national security arena has evolved from viewing AI as a promising capability to recognizing it as a fundamental reshaping force in how we protect and serve our Nation. Leading teams through this transformation has meant balancing the imperative to adopt cutting-edge capabilities with the responsibility to ensure these systems remain accountable, secure, and aligned with our values. The most critical lesson has been that AI doesn't diminish the importance of human leadership—it amplifies it, demanding leaders who can navigate complexity, foster trust, and make decisions where technology and ethical judgment intersect.”
Eileen Vidrine, Former Chief Data & AI Officer, US Department of the Air Force
CEO & Founder, Vidrine Vantage Consulting
  • "I studied computer science at university and still remember my first AI project - a small experiment that opened my eyes to how machine could think. When I joined The AI Summit in 2018, the world was buzzing with excitement about AI's potential - full of bold ideas and big dreams. Now, it's amazing to see those dreams taking shape in reality, with AI driving real change across industries and transforming the way we live and work."
    Jingjing Virgo, Portfolio Manager,
    The AI Summit Series
  • “In about a decade of working with AI, I’ve gone from working at a AI marketing startup fresh out of college to leading enterprise AI platforms and fostering innovation teams. My flagship AI moment was managing a platform at a telecom giant where AI insights helped tens of thousands of customer service agents deliver better support to over 100 million customers. Then GPT-3 came along and blew my mind and eventually led to me starting the AI-native company that I lead today. The near-exponential pace of innovation continues to leave me in awe, as previously difficult AI feats become increasingly commoditized.”
    Daniel Beecham, CEO + Founder,
    Propagent
  • “I was inspired to do a MSc in 2016 by Google’s revolutionary deep dream models, which learnt how to represent complex images/recognise high level features like “a cats face”. Now I’m applying these same techniques in chemistry and biology, to design new materials in silico, and predict how proteins can fold - a critical step in drug discovery. The biggest change in ML in the last decade has been the adoption of these deep learning tools to a huge number of new domains - text, images, but also the natural sciences - the area I’m most excited for AI to have a big impact.”
Mark Neumann, Head of Machine Learning,
    Orbital Materials
