Since receiving her academic degrees in Biochemistry and Bioinformatics during the late 1990s, Ellie D. Norris has acquired over 25 years of professional experience supporting drug discovery and development as a trusted and effective technology partner. Ellie’s career began with over a decade as a bioinformatics scientist in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. She then transitioned to information technology and held various positions pertaining to information architecture, solution architecture, and technology chapter leadership to assist both research and development business functions. For most of her career, Ellie has worked for the pharmaceutical company Merck & Co., Inc., which is headquartered in Rahway, NJ, USA. She currently serves as the Director of Data & Analytics Strategy and Technology Partnership within Merck's Clinical and Real-World Evidence Generation IT organization. In this role, she is focused on data and technology enablement, AI ethics & governance, and advanced analytics, managing a very talented data science & machine learning team between the US and Czechia. Externally, Ellie was announced as the first runner-up for the “AIconics: AI Innovator of the Year Awards – Solutions Implementor” category at the AI Summit New York in 2022. She was also featured in RE-WORK’s “Top 25 Women in AI: U.S. Healthcare and Pharma Edition” and spent three years as the NYC chapter co-lead of “Women in Machine Learning & Data Science”. She is currently an editorial board member for the Future Medicine AI Digital Hub & Journal and an enthusiastic participant in the VisionAIres Community.
