Chitra Hota
Chitra is a seasoned technology executive with deep expertise in the financial services industry. In July of this year, she joined Carlyle as the organization's inaugural Chief Data and Analytics Officer, tasked with leading a transformative data and analytics strategy and execution to harness data as a strategic asset across the enterprise. Before joining Carlyle, Chitra served as Managing Director and Global Head of Data, Analytics, Performance Reporting, and Architecture at Oaktree Capital Management. There, she drove the transformation and development of data platforms to enable enterprise-wide reporting, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and advanced analytics. Prior to her tenure at Oaktree, Chitra was the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Global Head of Asset and Wealth Management Data and Analytics at J.P. Morgan Chase. She spearheaded the design and implementation of large-scale data engineering platforms and products that powered trading, reporting, and analytics initiatives. Chitra’s career also includes senior technology strategy and leadership roles at Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch, where she focused on Global Markets, Investment Banking, and Wealth Management. In addition, she gained entrepreneurial experience by founding and running her own company, delivering innovative products and consulting services tailored to the financial services sector. Chitra began her career at Asea Brown Boveri (ABB), working in the automation technology division. She contributed to the design of solid-state Interlocking devices for railway signaling systems in Denmark, UK and India—an experience that not only honed her technical skills but also ignited her passion for cutting-edge technology and transformative projects. She holds a B.S. (Honors) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Chitra is dedicated to mentoring young adults from underserved communities, helping them launch careers in technology. She is a strong advocate for women in STEM, inspiring them to excel in technical fields. A sought-after speaker at technology events, Chitra balances her dynamic career with a love for leisure travel, food, and cooking.
