Anna Berg Asberg
Anna Berg Åsberg is Vice President of R&D IT at AstraZeneca, where her team aim to use technology to transform the speed and quality of the discovery and delivery of medicines to patients.
Anna’s team spans three continents and is unified with a purpose to improve scientists’ daily lives through technology, from digitizing lab spaces to using AI to fuel the company’s early pipeline to providing the technology background to deliver the company’s clinical trials and regulatory submissions across the globe. Anna is also responsible for piloting and scaling emerging technologies such as generative AI within R&D at AstraZeneca.
Her AstraZeneca career spans technology leadership roles in the United States and Europe, in various functions including Finance and Enabling Units, Commercial and Operations, where she established and started the journey to make AstraZeneca factories ‘smart’ with digital technologies.
Currently based in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA, Anna serves on the Board of the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce-Washington D.C. and she is passionate about driving innovative collaborations around the world. She is a sought-after speaker on the topics of IT, artificial intelligence, and women in S.T.E.M.
Anna holds an M.Sc. degree from KTH, Royal Institute of Stockholm. Prior to joining AstraZeneca Anna studied and worked in numerous European countries, including Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and France. where she developed a passion for applying IT to diverse organizations and challenges, and launched an IT consultancy company in Hamburg, Germany.
