Fernando Montejo is Senior Director of External Partnerships and Engagement at Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business. His work focuses on building bridges between academia, industry, government, and community organizations to shape a future-ready and responsible business ecosystem. He is helping lead the launch of the Fordham AI Hub, an initiative advancing responsible and applied AI in business through cross-sector collaboration, workforce development, and innovation partnerships.
Previously, Fernando served as Vice President of Innovation Industries at the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), where he spearheaded citywide initiatives to grow one of the world’s most inclusive tech ecosystems. His leadership included launching the Founder Fellowship, Venture Access Alliance, and NYC VC Internship Program – expanding opportunities for founders, investors, and students across the city.
Prior to NYCEDC, served as Senior Officer at MIT Solve, an initiative of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that accelerates solutions to pressing global challenges through open innovation and cross-sector partnerships. Earlier, served as Senior Advisor at the New York City Housing Authority, working with the Executive Leadership team to implement innovative programs that improved quality of life in public housing for more than 400,000 New Yorkers.
Deeply committed to expanding pathways into tech and entrepreneurship, Fernando serves on the advisory board of CUNY Tech Prep and is a Venture Cooperative Fellow at Laconia Capital.
A native New Yorker, he holds a Master in City Planning from MIT and a Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies from Cornell University.
