Helen Gu
Dr. Helen Gu is the founder and CEO of InsightFinder Inc. She is also a Professor at Department of Computer Science of North Carolina State University and leads a research group supported by research grants from NSF, NSA, ARO, Google, IBM, and Cisco. She published more than 90 research papers and has filed 11 patents (10 out of them have been granted). Helen was on sabbatical at Google as a visiting scientist in 2015 helping Google evaluate the patented unsupervised behavior learning (UBL) algorithm co-invented by her and her PhD student. Google licensed the UBL technology based on the superior accuracy achieved by UBL on real system failure data. Since that founding, Helen has led the company in applying unsupervised machine learning (UML) as the solution to the problem of automation in large-scale enterprise systems. Most recently, Dr Gu has led the company’s move to develop autonomic AI Observability and Governance solutions to achieve responsible AI. As enterprise companies bring large language models (LLMs) into production, success will require that they be able to ensure model integrity. The application of UML algorithms will help customers guard against model drift, LLM hallucinations, and model performance degradation. Recently Dr Gu was recognized for her work when she was given VentureBeat’s prestigious Women in AI award in the category of “Responsibility and Ethics of AI: Thoughtfully building AI that leads to a better and more equitable world”.
