Maya Georgieva
Maya Georgieva is a futurist, immersive storyteller, and global thought leader shaping the future of learning, creativity, and innovation. She serves as Senior Director of the Innovation Center and the XR, AI, and Quantum Labs at The New School, where she leads pioneering initiatives at the intersection of generative AI, immersive storytelling, quantum design, and speculative futures.
Maya is the lead author of influential reports, including the EDUCAUSE AI Literacy and AI Ethics Guidelines and the iLRN State of XR and Immersive Learning Report (2025). She has curated groundbreaking projects such as the first Quantum Art Exhibition sponsored by IBM Quantum and co-created The Talk: Speculative Conversations with Everyday Objects, an interactive installation blending augmented reality and generative AI presented at SIGGRAPH 2023. Through her work, Maya explores generative AI at the intersection of creative practice, strategic foresight, sustainability, and ethics.
Recognized among the Blooloop 50 Immersive Influencers and as one of the Top 30 Higher Education Influencers in the U.S., Maya has collaborated with IBM, Google, HP, Microsoft, and Meta. A sought-after speaker, she has delivered talks on AI, immersive design, and the future of education at SXSW, UNESCO, the Milken Institute Global Conference, and global forums. Her work has been featured in The Atlantic and The Economist, challenging audiences to explore how the convergence of creativity, ethics, and emerging technologies can drive meaningful change in education, society, and industry.
