A recognized leader in AI-driven content and data transactions, he focuses on enabling companies to responsibly deploy emerging technologies while advancing growth and protecting core assets.
As Vice President & Associate General Counsel at The Associated Press, Paul advises executive leadership on the legal and operational implications of generative AI and other emerging technologies—shaping AP’s approach to safeguarding and licensing its journalism in the algorithmic era. He led negotiations on AP’s landmark AI content-licensing agreements, setting industry-defining standards for how news organizations engage with AI platforms.
Paul has built and scaled global legal functions that accelerate innovation while mitigating operational, commercial, and regulatory risk. His experience spans complex technology transactions, content licensing strategies, enterprise data governance, privacy program development, intellectual property management, and the design of AI governance frameworks that balance innovation with responsibility.
