Shireen Atabaki
Shireen Atabaki, M.D., M.P.H., is a Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Program Director of the Federal Communication Commission’s Telehealth Conneted Care Pilot program. Dr. Atabaki is Medical Director of School Telemedicine at Children's National Hospital. Dr. Atabaki was Medical Director of the School Telehealth Program providing medical care to all children in the District of Columbia Public Schools.
She has authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications and served as Principal Investigator for over 15 federal and foundation grants. Dr. Atabaki’s work focuses on impact for children and families and establishment of a telehealth consortium across the U.S. Dr. Atabaki has received several awards including, the National Heroes Award for Research, from the Maternal Child Health Bureau, the HIMSS Davies Award for Innovation in Health Technology and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
Her work has been featured in media outlets including the Washington Post, Reuters, NBC, NPR and Parents Magazine.
